To the Editor: ‘New’ city building should be in old school building

0

I understand that at some future date the city administrators may want to move out of the present
building located at 304 N. Church St. and build a new administration building.
It appears that there are numerous empty office and commercial buildings in Bowling Green that might be
appropriate places for the city administrators to do their work.
A town with a population of 10,000* most likely does not really need a spacious, imposing structure to
carry on the city’s business.
Instead of asking BG’s taxpayers to foot a bill for a new multi-million dollar building, maybe the city
could purchase or rent a building like the Central Administration building on South Grove Street?
According to the Sentinel-Tribune, the Central Administration building was recently sold by the Bowling
Green school district for $15,000 to a Missouri-based company, Gold Nugget Properties LLC.
There is a Gold Nugget Properties LLC minimal website for a Sacramento based company managed by a
Kamaljit Kaur Gosal, but the only website I could find that mentions a Gold Nugget Properties LLC in
Missouri is on "powerprofiles.com."
The powerprofiles website describes Gold Nugget Properties LLC, (subsidiary of the Sacramento group?)
located in either Meadville (population 457) or in Hale, Mo. (population 441), as "lessors of
nonresidential buildings." Apparently, the company is managed by investor George Duncan; there are
an estimated 2 employees; the company has been in business for 3 years.
Maybe there are some silent partners in the Bowling Green area who are the real investors in this
venture?
At any rate, it would be much less expensive for us taxpayers, rather than building something new, if the
Gold Nugget people, whoever they are, could become "lessors of the nonresidential" Central
Administration building by leasing (or selling) this large and perfectly adequate building to the city
for use as a more spacious city administration building if it is determined that such a building is
needed.
Maybe some of the county’s multi-million dollar reserves (including, if retrieved, the $500,000 buyout
amount paid to a non-performing employee**) could somehow be transferred to the city for renting [or
purchasing] the Central Administration building from the Gold Nugget investors.

** Surely longevity contractual agreements do not attach in this case.
