Weston alumni banquet May 28
TONTOGANY – The 2011 Weston Alumni Banquet will be held May 28 at the Lybarger-Grimm American Legion
Hall, Tontogany Road.
The social hour is 5 to 6 p.m., with banquet at 6. Rev. Chester Chambers, former Weston United Methodist
minister, will be the guest speaker.
The Class of 1951 will be honored.
The Alumni Association is inviting all former Weston students to attend. Cost is $17. For reservations

Update on Alzheimer’s May 17
PERRYSBURG – Perrysburg Care and Rehabilitation Center will host a program titled "Alzheimer’s
Disease – Review and Update 2011" on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
The facility is located at 28546 Starbright Blvd, near the corner of Ohio 795 and Oregon Road.
The update will be presented by Dr. Howard Schecht of the neurology department of Toledo Clinic. Schecht
is a board certified neurologist and a nationally recognized Alzheimer’s and dementia expert. His talk
is geared for caregivers, those recently diagnosed, and loved ones of patients.
This program is free and open to the community. Light refreshments will be provided. RSVP to (419)

Briar Hill receives customer service award
NORTH BALTIMORE – Briar Hill Health Campus received the received the Platinum Award for excellence at the
Trilogy Health Services 2011 Spring Meeting, held in mid-April.
The award was based on customer satisfaction results from a semi-annual survey that is sent to residents’
family members. Briar Hill received recognition for their customer satisfaction scores in staff
attitude, quality of nursing care, food quality, activity programming and appearance/cleanliness.
Briar Hill offers skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, adult day and respite services.

Pamela L. Richmond

Otterbein names vice president of development
PEMBERVILLE – Otterbein Retirement Homes has appointed Pamela L. Richmond, CPA as the chain’s vice
president of strategy and new ministry development. Her office will be located at Otterbein Portage
Valley in Pemberville.
Richmond’s job will be to oversee the increased responsibilities and challenges of the next phase of the
company’s master plan for each of its existing communities, as well as Avalon Neighborhoods and Home
Health by Otterbein.
She has 14 years of strategic management experience from her previous work, having spent nine years at
Plante & Moran in Toledo and five years as director of Senior Living Consulting Services.
Richmond and her husband, a Sylvania attorney, live in the Toledo area and have five children.
Dementia open house May 19
WATERVILLE – Heartland of Waterville, 8885 Browning Drive, will host an Alzheimer’s/dementia open house
on Thursday from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Carol Jones, R.N., B.S.N. is the program director of the dedicated Alzheimer’s/Dementia Unit at Heartland
of Waterville and has been caring for her own mother who has suffered from Alzheimer’s for the last 15
years. Through her personal and professional experience, Jones has a collection of helpful tips for
caregivers on how to decrease confusion and behaviors and how to improve the quality of life of dementia
patients.
