Sectional Roundup: Otsego baseball, Northwood softball win titles (5-10-11)

Otsego’s baseball team and Northwood’s softball team each won sectional titles Tuesday.
The Knights were 11-2 winners over Liberty-Benton in the Division III sectional at Patrick Henry High
School.
Northwood was a 7-4 winner over Fostoria St. Wendelin in a Division IV sectional final at Gibsonburg High
School.
BASEBALL
DIVISION III
Otsego 11, Liberty-Benton 2
In Hamler, Otsego exploded for 17 hits in the game and scored seven runs in the fifth inning en route to
the sectional title.
The Knights (10-9) had led 3-2 going into the bottom of the fifth.
Leading hitters for Otsego were: Ryan Snyder, double, three singles, two runs batted in; and Vollmar,
double, two singles, three RBI.
The Knights will face St. Henry in the district semifinals at the University of Northwest Ohio May 19 at
4:15 p.m.
SOFTBALL
DIVISION IV
Northwood 7, St. Wendelin 4
In Gibsonburg, the Rangers overcame an early 3-1 deficit for the sectional title. Northwood,
13-5, will face the winner of Hopewell-Loudon and Mohawk in the district semifinals at Fostoria High
School May 18 at 5 p.m.
Leading hitters for Northwood were: Brianna Crispin, 3-for-4, home run, double, three RBI; Katie Vancs,
2-for-2, double; Sam Brisbin, 1-for-3, RBI; and Becca Gwin, 1-for-4, RBI.
Jordan Edwards went all seven innings for the Ragners, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with four
strikeouts.
DIVISION III
Woodmore 8, Rossford 1
In Genoa, Woodmore scored three times in the bottom of the first and fourth innings, and once in third to
erase a 1-0 deficit.
Cassidy Gauthier was 1-for-3 with an RBI for Rossford (10-12).
Woodmore is 12-3.
