Rossford Council calls meeting
ROSSORD – A special city council meeting will be held Monday at 6:15 p.m. in council chambers.

Judge did not make order
When sentencing Cory Mendoza to 39 years in prison, Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Alan Mayberry
said he would recommend to the warden that Mendoza be placed in solitary confinement on the anniversary
of the accident each year.
In Friday’s Sentinel, a story referenced the Sixth District Court of Appeals decision which said the
judge had made that stipulation as part of Mendoza’s sentence. At sentencing the judge told the
defendant he did not have the authority to require such a sentence.
Students with military academy appointments recognized
Congressman Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, will recognize U.S. Military Academy Appointments for the
incoming class of 2015 for the Fifth Congressional District of Ohio on Sunday at the Simpson Building.

Nine students from Fostoria, Perrysburg, Greenwich, Ottawa, Tiffin and Van Wert received appointments to
the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, U.S. Air Force
Academy at Colorado Springs and U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis.
Local students include U.S. Air Force Academy, Andrea Wyant, Fostoria High School; U.S. Merchant Marine
Academy, Ryan Pierson and Matthew Slocum, both of Perrysburg High School; U.S. Military Academy, Stephen
Pavelko, Perrysburg High School, and U.S. Naval Academy, Ashton Genzman, Perrysburg, Notre Dame Academy.
