Eugenia "Jean" Harriett Hardy, age 89, of Wayne, Ohio, passed away on Friday (April 22, 2011)
at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio.
She was born on November 27, 1921 in Seneca County to the late Eugene and Harriett (Woodley) Hall. She
married Donald Jay Hardy on June 10, 1939 in Bloomdale, Ohio and he passed away on April 13, 2007.
Surviving are her son, Randy Jay (Annette) Hardy of Waterville, Ohio; daughter, Sharen A. (Don) Farster
of Risingsun, Ohio; grandchildren, Doug Farster, Dee (Paul) Smith, Jennifer (Rob) Riley, Ryan Hardy;
great-grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Drew Smith and Joel Riley.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister; half brothers, Chester Kieffer, Daniel Kieffer; and half
sister, Leona Benschoter.
Jean was a homemaker and had worked at the former Autolite in Fostoria and at the former Hartenfeld’s
Market in Wayne.
She was a member of the Wayne United Methodist Church, charter member of the Wayne Research Club, Golden
Girl’s Pinochle Club, Wayne Mother’s Club, former Wayne American Legion Auxiliary, and the Palmetto,
Florida Ladies of Elk’s.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday (April 26, 2011) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, where
a Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Mark Kuhlman officiating. Burial
will be in Graham Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wayne United Methodist Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio in
Perrysburg.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Wood County Hospital, Hospice of
Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg and her family physician Dr. Elizabeth Horrigan for the wonderful care
given to their mother during the last few months.
