ANNIVERSARY: Walter & Esther Baker

Walter and Esther (Behrens) Baker, Perrysburg, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Friday
with family and friends.
They were married April 8, 1951 in Deshler.
Esther Baker, a graduate of Bowling Green University, taught elementary school in Deshler, Fostoria and
Toledo.
Walter Baker, a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, earned a master’s degree in geology at the University of
Michigan. He initially worked for Atlantic Refining Co. in Casper, Wyo., and retired from ARCO in 1985
as vice president and resident manager of ARCO Dubai. His job had the family moving to Colorado; Texas;
Tehran, Iran; New Jersey; Lima, Peru; the Philippines; Australia; Mogadishu, Somalia; and Dubai, United
Arab Emirates. The couple settled in the Perrysburg area upon retirement.
They have three children, Susan Baird and MaryAnn Lillis, both of Littleton, Colo.; and Jim, Hudson,
Ohio. There are seven grandchildren.
