UT student assists her father who has had MS for 16 years

Kiley Besgrove is a 21-year -old hardworking University of Toledo student whose family life is not
average. Her father Bob has multiple sclerosis, having been diagnosed 16 years ago.
Kiley lives with her father and is well aware of MS and how it affects his life – and hers – on a daily
basis.
Her father takes several medications, including Rebif, which is a shot he administers to himself three
times a week. This medication is for those with relapsing MS and is related to proteins in the body.
MS has affected his walking abilities, resulting in him being less independent. He tries to stay active
and works out on a regular basis at Natural Toning and Health, a center on Central Avenue in Toledo that
works on different muscles in his body.
Kiley’s advice for those who are dealing with the same situation is to not feel sorry for the person with
MS and to always help out as much as possible.
She, and her family participate in the MS Walk every year in Toledo. This year’s MS Walk will be held on
April 10 at the Univeristy of Toledo. Those who are interested can register in advance or the day of the
event. They may walk in a "team"or on their own.
Persons interested in participating in the walk, or who would like more information about Walk MS or
Multiple Sclerosis, may visit http://www.nationalmssociety.org/chapters/OHO/ or call 1-800-FIGHT-MS.
