LIME CITY – The stabbing death of a Rossford man this weekend in
Perrysburg Township is still under investigation, and police have not
yet come to a conclusion as to the manner of death.
The Lucas County Coroner’s Office this morning identified the deceased
as Eric Baird, 24, who died from a sharp force trauma – a stab wound –
to the chest. Baird was found at an apartment in the Lakes at Woodmont
Apartments, located at 10105 Woodmont Way.
Perrysburg Township police were notified about the incident at 12:10
a.m. Sunday. Baird was pronounced dead at 1:03 a.m. at Mercy St. Vincent
Medical Center, Toledo.
Township Detective Sgt. Jim Gross, who is investigating the incident, said that the apartment belonged to
a friend of Baird’s.
Gross could not confirm a cause of death in the incident.
"Like I say, I’m still examining all of the evidence" and continuing his
investigation to make a determination as to the manner of Baird’s
death, he said.
Perrysburg Township Police Chief Mark Hetrick said Monday that the
incident was not a random act and that residents in the area did not
need to be concerned for their safety.
