Lana Rose has been granted an early release from her two-year prison sentence in the accidental death of
a Portage man.
Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Reeve Kelsey approved the judicial release on Monday
Rose, age 48 of Wayne, was convicted of aggravated vehicular homicide after she pleaded no contest to the
charge. Kelsey ordered the prison sentence last July.
In October 2009, Rose was driving on private property behind a residence on Wayne Road when she lost
control of the car and drove into a pond. Larry Sabo, 51, of Portage, was a passenger in the car and
died when he was trapped and drowned after the car became submerged. Both Rose and another passenger,
Dale Rose Jr., also of Wayne, were able to escape the vehicle.
On Monday Kelsey placed Rose on five years of community control sanctions, including an order for her to
not consume alcoholic beverages or frequent any establishment serving alcohol. She must participate in
an alcohol treatment program including attendance at Alcoholics Anonymous or similar meetings. She was
intoxicated at the time of the crash.
The judge also ordered her to perform 500 hours of community service.
