Former Glenwood principal William Buzzell was released on his own recognizance Monday after entering not
guilty pleas to four charges related to the possession and distribution of child pornography.
Common Pleas Court Judge Reeve Kelsey released Buzzell, 45, on the condition he wear an electronic
monitoring bracelet, stays away from Rossford School District property, and stays away from any children
except for his own.
Buzzell is facing four charges – three counts of pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor
and a charge of possession of criminal tools, punishable up to one year. He faces up to 25 years in
prison.
He was arrested last Tuesday after evidence was found during an early morning search of his home by
Perrysburg police.
Items were later removed from his office at Glenwood. County Prosecutor Paul Dobson said this morning
that while items were removed from his school office officials did not find evidence of illegal
material.
Buzzell was being held on $90,000 bail. Dobson said given Buzzell’s length of time in the community and
that he has family here that he’s "comfortable" that he does not pose a flight risk.
Buzzell is married with three children. He was hired as Glenwood principal in 2000. The district has put
him on paid administrative leave until the investigation is resolved.
Perrysburg Deputy Police Chief Mike Gilmore said last week that the police do not have any indication
that any of the images involve children from the school.
A pretrial hearing date has been set for April 25 at 10 a.m.
