ROSSFORD — The Board of Education today voted to hire a veteran educator
to serve at interim principal of Glenwood Elementary School filling a
vacancy created by former principal William Buzzell’s arrest last week
on child pornography charges.
Bill Shunk, who retired in 2009 as assistant superintendent in Sylvania
and had previously serve as an assistant high school principal in the
Lake Schools, started working Monday.
His hiring was approved retroactively.
Superintendent Susan Lang said he was selected because of his extensive
experience and because he had done some consulting work with the
district and so was familiar with the schools.
Buzzell was arraigned Monday on three counts of pandering
sexually-oriented material involving a minor and a charge of possession
of criminal tools.
He faces as much as 25 years in prison. He has been released on personal recognizance awaiting trial.
