Ellen Jane Van Vorhis, 87, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Wood County Hospital.
She was born January 14, 1924 in Bowling Green, OH, to Herbert and Polly (Pultz) Wallace. She married
Emerson Van Vorhis on February 26, 1943.
She is survived by her husband Emerson, children, Susan Swank and Richard (Myra) Van Vorhis; son-in-law,
Jack Firsdon; grandchildren, Doug Firsdon (Lori), Lori Firsdon, Amy Schroeder (Mike), Kathi Iott
(Brian), Michelle Swank, Scott Swank, Kelly Swank (Ryan Miley), Gregory Van Vorhis (Jennifer), Lance Van
Vorhis (Kristy), great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Jessica, Madison, Evan and Kaleb, two
great-great-grandchildren, and brother, Herbert (Lee) Wallace.
She was preceded in death by daughters, Ruth Ann Firsdon and Patty Lou.
Ellen Jane worked for the Ohio State University Extension Office for 15 years retiring in 1983. She was a
member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Wood Co. Niner’s Radio Club and was a 4-H Leader.
Ellen Jane enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Visitation will be Friday, February 11, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the DUNN FUNERAL HOME, 408 W.
Wooster St., Bowling Green, OH. The funeral will be on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the
funeral home with burial at the Graham Cemetery, Wayne Ohio. A luncheon will follow at the Riverview
Banquet Centre, 405 E. Front St., Pemberville, OH.
