John Woessner, 85, Bowling Green, Ohio passed away Thursday, February 10, 2011.
John was born in Perrysburg, Ohio to the late John and Alta (Yarger) Woessner. He was a 1943 Liberty High
School graduate and he proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII in the Philippines on board
the communication ship, the USS Wasatch, as a Communication Operator.
He married Louise Holeman December 17, 1949 and she survives in Bowling Green. Also surviving are his
children: Debra (Dan) Rochte, Grand Rapids, Ohio; Cathie (John) Young, Nancy, Kentucky; Amy (Steve)
Eddy, Layton, Utah; and Brad (Kathy) Woessner of Tontogany, Ohio. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren,
19 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Nancy Trask, Simsburg, Connecticut; and Yorela Clements, Mount
Blanchard, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert and two sisters: Ruth Koontz and Evelyn
Fausnaugh.
John was a welder for many years with the Buckeye Pipeline in Cygnet, Ohio and later in charge of
maintenance at the Lawndale Mobile Plaza in Weston, Ohio until his retirement. He was a life member of
the VFW Post #1148 where he served as Past Commander. He also was life member of the AMVETS #711,
Bowling Green and Grand Rapids Alva Sidle Post #232.
He and his wife, Louise, enjoyed many years of western square dancing with the Waterville Rythum
Ramblers. He enjoyed league bowling with the VFW Post #1148 for many years and a weekly game of golf; he
scored a hole-in-one on #8 at Tanglewood. He also enjoyed playing cards & Bingo.
Visitation for John will be Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME
& CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., PO Box 648, Bowling Green, OH 43402; Tele: 419/352-2171. His
Funeral Service will be Monday, February 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home and burial to follow
with Military Honors in the Wood County Memory Gardens.
