Park district offers winter activities, from ice fishing to searching for owls

The Wood County Park District is hosting several winter-themed activities in coming weeks.
Ice fishing will be held Saturday at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Participants should meet in the upper level of the preserve, located in Perrysburg.
Children and adults are invited to enjoy the great winter sport of ice-fishing. Learn ice-fishing safety,
fishing basics, and make an ice-fishing pole. If the ice is thick enough the group will drill holes and
fish. If the ice isn’t thick enough the program will be inside. Hot chocolate and cookies will be
provided.
Dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. Ice fishing is not permitted at any other time.
Screeching and hooting isn’t so scary once you know the fascinating facts.
An "Owls of Cedar Creeks" program is planned for Feb. 16 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Cedar Creek
Preserve. After a short talk on owls, hike the darkening woods in search of these silent hunters.
A Wood County Park District winter service night will be held at the Reuthinger Preserve, Northwood,
Feb.17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Meet the volunteer services administrator and help out by working on a number of behind-the-scenes
projects that need to be done.
