Albert "Batman" Torres, the Honorable Mayor of Milton Center, Ohio, passed away Sunday,
February 6, 2011 at the age of 60.
He was born in Findlay, Ohio to the late Abelardo and Amelia (Serrato) Torres.
"Al" married his true love, Stella Garcia on June 6, 1978 in Chattanooga, Tennessee and she
survives in Milton Center. Also surviving are four daughters: Julia (James) Haffa, Painesville, Ohio;
Lisa (Derrick) Kistler, Bradner, Ohio; Victoria Torres, Milton Center; and Elizabeth (Max) Beal of
Bowling Green, Ohio. Also surviving are two sisters: Linda Cortez, Custar and Teresa Ireland, Milton
Center; two brothers: Lawrence Torres, Milton Center and Felix Torres, North Baltimore; seven
grandchildren: Alexander, Madisyn, Mason, Ceceilia, Gerrit, Cienna, and Stella.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Julia and Luisa.
Al was currently the Mayor of Milton Center and had also served on the Village Council and as the Justice
of the Peace.
He retired from Northwest Ohio Regional and Water and Sewer District after 32 years of service. He
currently was employed part-time as an inspector/engineer for Poggemeyer Design Group.
He was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church and was an avid Michigan Wolverine and San Francisco
49er fan. Al was an all-around great guy, great husband, and very loving grandfather. His number one
priority was his family and nothing came before them. He would help anyone in need. He was a talented
garage mechanic working on various cars.
Al proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force serving as Sergeant of the 366th TFW Gunfighters
Danang during the Vietnam War.
Visitation will be Friday, February 11, 2011 from 2 p.m. until the time of his Funeral Service at 5 p.m.,
with Military Honors in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., PO Box
648, Bowling Green, and Tele: 419-352-2171.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions may be gifted in Al’s honor to
Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
