Daily improvement remains BG’s emphasis (01-26-11)

Daily improvement remains Bowling Green’s emphasis as the Falcon hockey team enters the final five weeks
of the regular season.
BG is last in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association with eight points, 12 behind Michigan State and
14 behind Lake Superior.
It has a chance to close the gap Friday and Saturday nights when it hosts Lake Superior (6-11-7, 4-8-6-4)
at 7:05.
"Obviously, the results haven’t been very good, so we want to start to make some strides and getting
better results, but that comes back to the daily process and the process within games," BG
first-year coach Chris Bergeron said.
BG is 7-17-2 overall and 2-14-2-0 in the league, including an 0-9-2 record in its last 11 league games.
The Falcons have lost four straight overall.
"We’re not going to change stressing making plays at big times in games which we’ve been poor at,
whether it’s been around the other team’s net or in particular in our own zone around our net,"
Bergeron said.
"We have nothing set in stone, we want to win six games or four games. This is about now and
tomorrow.
INJURIES: BG freshman forward Ryan Viselli has returned to practice and could play this weekend. His neck
and back remain sore after a hard hit into the boards Jan. 14.
BG sophomore defenseman Max Grover is questionable with tendonitis in his hand and wrist.
REMATCH: The Lakers posted two 2-1 shootout wins at home against BG Dec. 3-4. The Falcons held a 1-0 lead
after two periods in each game.
RECRUIT: Reed Whiteside, a sophomore defenseman at Trenton (Mich.) High School, has verbally committed to
BG for the 2013-14 season. He’s 6-0, 170 and turns 16 in June.
He’s BG’s second 2013-14 recruit, joining Mark Friedman, a defenseman for the Don Mills (Ontario) midget
team.
Both are eligible to sign their national letters of intent in the fall of 2012.
The 2013-14 recruiting class replaces BG’s sophomore class, which has one goalie, five defensemen and
four forwards.
