Place orders for Girl Scout cookies

When area Girl Scouts begin knocking on doors this week for their annual cookie sale, keep in mind what
that Thin Mint can do.
A Girl Scout cookie can do many things. It can send a girl to camp. It
could help pay to refurbish a room at a homeless shelter. It could cheer
up a solider who is far form home.
That cookie would also fly a troop of girls from Bowling Green or Toledo to Washington, D.C.
They can also bring out confidence in a girl. It’s no easy thing to ask a
stranger to buy something. You have to speak up, look them in the eye,
believe in what you’re doing, and believe in yourself.
“Girl Scouts is the best leadership development program for girls in the
United States,” said Barbara J. Bonifas, CEO of Girl Scouts of Western
Ohio. “Through the Girl Scout cookie sale girls develop five essential
skills — goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills
and business ethics. And troops often decide to spend some of their
earnings investing in the community through service projects.
Girls in Northwest Ohio began taking cookie orders on Friday and will
continue through Feb. 8. Cookie delivery begins Feb. 26. Cookies will
also be sold in the community at designated cookie booths from March 4
to April 3.
All proceeds from the sales stay in the community. Selections include
Do-Si-Dos, Lemon Chalet Cremes, Samoas, Tagalongs, Thin Mints and
Trefoils. Boxes are $3.50 each.
