was indicated to have been the major problem area.

At that time a 1998 GMC Sierra driven by Christopher Joy, Grand Rapids, was southbound on Ohio 65 when it
lost control on the icy road, went left of center, overcorrected, went off the right side of the road,
and overturned, striking several small trees.
Joy reported possible injuries but was not transported to a hospital. He was cited for operation without
reasonable control.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office reported that a vehicle struck the house of Grand Rapids Mayor Judy
Kiefer Tuesday morning.
At 11:26 a.m. a 1999 Ford E350 driven by Rickie Beaudry, Oregon, was eastbound on West Second Street in
the village when it traveled off the right side of the road and then back on the road and crossed the
center line. It then continued off the left side of the road and into a yard, striking a flag pole, the
front porch steps of the house and then the house itself, located at 24298 W. Second Street.
Damage was reported to the foundation of the residence. Homeowner Richard Kiefer was reportedly home at
the time of the incident.
