Drugs, bullying and social media discussed at Student Safety Summit

PERRYSBURG – Perrysburg School District and Paul A. Dobson, Wood County prosecutor, will present a
Student Safety Summit from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Commodore Building auditorium, 140 E. Indiana
Ave.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature a panel discussion on key topics parents
face, including:
¥ Alcohol & Drugs, including Synthetic Marijuana
¥ Prescription Drug Abuse
¥ Bullying
¥ Cell Phones/Texting (inappropriate messages and images)
¥ Social Media (Facebook & MySpace)
¥
Internet Safety
"We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Paul Dobson to offer this opportunity to
parents in our community," stated Tom Hosler, superintendent. "We hope that parents will gain
important knowledge about the challenges students are facing and what they can do to provide the support
they need."
The moderator will be Brad Harvey, news anchor for Channel 11 WTOL.
The panel participants will include: Rachel Bernhard, Penta Career Center resource officer; Dobson;
Hosler; Pat Jones, Perrysburg Police Department juvenile detective; Melissa Notestine, Perrysburg
Schools, onsite prevention counselor; Perrysburg Police Chief Daniel Paez; David Smigelski, with
Spengler Nathanson; Brent Swartz-miller, Frank Elementary School principal; Dale Wiltse, Perrysburg
Junior High School principal; and Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge David Woessner, with probate and
juvenile divisions.
