Slick roads contribute to Rt. 6 injury accident

WESTON – A Weston man was taken to Wood County Hospital for non-incapacitating injuries Thursday morning
after his car hit a semi-truck.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s report, Michael A. Smith, 30, of Weston, was northbound on Van
Tassel Road at 11:01 a.m. when he slid through the stop sign at U.S. Route 6 and struck the westbound
semi.
The semi, driven by Roger Bauman Jr., 30, of Pennsylvania, traveled off the north side of the highway,
struck a utility pole then came back across the highway and off the south side of the highway and
stopped partially in the roadway. Bauman was not injured.
Smith’s car ended up at the southwest corner of the intersection.
