Twelve straight wins and mention in the national polls are nice.
But for Bowling Green’s women’s basketball team, the real season begins Wednesday at Ohio in the Falcons’
Mid-American Conference opener. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
"We start over again. Everyone is zero-zero … We have to put non-conference behind us," BG
head coach Curt Miller said. "We’re proud of our accomplishments and we got better throughout
non-conference.
"But (now) it’s conference play where everyone is going to know everything about your players, about
your system."
Seniors Lauren Prochaska (20.0 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.1 spg) and Tracy Pontius (13.4 ppg, 4.2 apg) lead the way
for the Falcons.
SCOUTING OHIO: Ohio is 4-9 overall having lost eight of is last 10 games.
Tenishia Benson, a 5-foot-9 redshirt junior, is the only Bobcat averaging in double figures at 14.6 ppg.

Benson’s also the leading rebounder for Ohio at 7.5 per game and tops the team with 33 steals.
Benson played her first two years at Cincinnati, starting 23 games as a freshman in 2007-08. In 2008-09,
she played in only 11 games due to injuries.
Miller said Ohio is a very good defensive team and causes opposing teams problems with different presses.

Former Falcon Megan Thorburn is in her first season as an assistant coach at Ohio.
"The thing that is worrisome for us is that we have a former player on the coaching staff,"
Miller said. "Not only are they going to know everything that we are going to do, they are also
going to know our play-calls, they are going to know our tendencies. We will be very, very scouted.
"There is a high priority on being very, very good at taking what they give us because they are
going to know what we are going to try.
"At the same point, we’re still going to do what we do. It allowed us to go 12-1 in non-conference
play, and we believe in how we play and we have to continue to do that," Miller added. "We
can’t afford to change."
