Alva N. Sidle Legion Unit 232
GRAND RAPIDS – Second Vice President Judy Thomas opened the Nov. 5 meeting with 12 members present. She
reported 148 paid dues have been received.
Karen Dress took 408 pledge bookmarks to the elementary school for Veterans Day.
Mae Schlotz, Donna Meyers and Virginia Walerius went to County Council. The council decided to have five
night meetings instead of four. The new VA clinic on Detroit and Arlington in Toledo will start in the
spring. Buckeye Girls State will be June 13-19. To date, 150 veterans have gone on an Honor Flight and
500 more are on the waiting list.
An application for junior member Bella Simon was approved.
Members brought in 27 jars of cookie mix for the food pantry, and more are coming.
The members will bring in sanitizers, Crystal Light, lotion, eye drops, etc. for the December meeting to
be given to the troops. Also, hats, gloves etc. will be brought in for the elementary school.
Payments were to Spirit of Youth, $25; auxiliary emergency fund, children and youth fund and USO, $25
each; Marie Moore Fund, $50; Sandusky Women VA Hospital, $150; and Toledo VA Women Outpatient, $150.

Date to remember: Nov. 20 – post fish fry, 5-7 p.m.; $8. There is no euchre in December.

BRADNER – The November meeting was opened by President Deb Stiger with nine members in attendance.
The unit was led in prayer by Judy Hagemann.
There were several issues on the table which members voted to approve: Awards – athletic and scholastic,
donation designations for 2009-2010, Past President Parley dues and bonding fund.
Saturday, Nov. 21 there will be a Craft and Bake Sale at the post. For craft table reservations, contact
Deb Stiger.
The Dec. 2 meeting will be the Women’s Auxiliary Christmas Party at The CafĂ© in Fostoria. Reservations
are needed ASAP. Contact Stiger or sign up at the post.
