Bowling Green’s Holiday Parade tradition is alive and well.
"The parade is doing really well," Bruce Stevens, Parade Committee chairman, told the Bowling
Green Chamber of Commerce Trustees this morning.
He said the Nov. 21 parade will have 131 units, including five area high school bands. "People have

At the October meeting Stevens reported 23 units and $1,485 in donations. That amount was $5,740 this
morning.
"What we really need now is volunteers. We need bay coordinators and banner carriers," Stevens
said. Volunteers can contact the chamber office at (419) 353-7945.
Volunteers will need to attend an 8 a.m. meeting on parade day to get their instructions.
The holiday season opens the previous evening with the lighting of the tree on the lawn of the Wood
County District Public Library.
A series of events, mostly focused on weekends, are planned downtown from that weekend until Christmas.

Trustees also:
¥ Learned Wood County Hospital has scheduled a Jan. 24 grand opening for the expanded facility. Katherine
Harned reported the hospital gets possession of the new space on Christmas Eve. The new parking lot and
driveway paving should be completed and opened next week.
¥ Heard the ACT BG group will operate the Christmas Elves project this year. The project will operate
Nov. 16 through Dec. 14. The project buys toys and food for those in need. Details on how to participate
will be announced.
¥ Learned the annual meeting and dinner dance will be Jan. 30 and focus on Bowling Green State
University’s Centennial Celebration.
¥ Heard that the BGSU Alumni Career Workshop is open to the community. BGSU representative Tim Smith said
the program is open to anyone wanting to brush up on job searches, resume writing and other related
skills. He also encouraged the community to participate in the American Red Cross Blood Bowl at BGSU
next Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union.
¥ Heard BG Superintendent Hugh Caumartin report a grand opening is being planned for the new auditorium
Dec. 26 at 7 p.m. He said the program will feature "many talented alumni" of Bowling Green
schools.
