Football Roundup: Northwood clinches outright TAAC title

Northwood clinched an out-right Toledo Area Athletic Conference championship with a 64-7 win over
Cardinal Stritch Friday night.
In the Northern Lakes League it was: Maumee 42, Perrysburg 12; Bowling Green 36, Rossford 0; Anthony
Wayne 49, Springfield 0; and Southview 49, Northview 0.
In the Suburban Lakes League it was: Eastwood 34, Gibsonburg 6; Genoa 60, Elmwood 0; and Woodmore 43,
Otsego 7.
In the Midland Athletic League it was: Hopewell-Loudon 49, Lakota 33; and Mohawk 19, North Baltimore 0.

In
a non-league game, Lake defeated Allen East, 10-6.
Northwood 64, Cardinal Stritch 7
At Northwood, the Rangers rushed for 539 yards and nine touchdowns on 62 carries to roll past Cardinal
Stritch. Northwood finished 6-0 in the TAAC and is 7-3 overall.
Zach Bermejo rushed 12 times for 92 yards and one touchdown for Northwood while Michael Prothero added
six carries for 89 yards and one score. He also was credited with a safety after a tackle in the end
zone.
Northwood’s defense held Stritch to 87 yards rushing and 31 yards passing and got three turnovers.
Stritch finished 1-9, 1-5.
Southview 40, Northview 0
At Sylvania, Southview scored four times in the first quarter on the way to its shutout win over
cross-town rival Northview.
Southview finished in a first-place tie in the NLL with Maumee at 6-1 and was 7-3 overall. Northview
finished 3-7, 2-5.
Anthony Wayne 49, Springfield 0
At Holland, Anthony Wayne scored seven rushing touchdowns in its shutout of Springfield.
AW finishes 7-3, 5-2 and Springfield is 3-7, 2-5.
Genoa 60, Elmwood 0
At Genoa, Greg Hillabrand rushed nine times for 158 yards and three touchdowns to help state-ranked Genoa
roll past Elmwood. The Comets are 10-0 overall and finish 6-0 in the SLL. Elmwood finishes, 3-7, 2-4.

Devin Sibby added 143 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries for Genoa and Tyler Pickard kicked four field
goals.
Woodmore 43, Otsego 7
At Elmore, Woodmore defeated Otsego to finish at .500 in the SLL. The Wildcats finish 4-6, 3-3.
Otsego finishes the season 0-10, 0-6.

Lake 10, Allen East 6
At Millbury, Lake slipped past Allen East in a non-league game to finish 7-3 overall.
Jake Bandeen kicked a 23-yard field goal and a PAT for the Flyers and Alan Martinez scored a touchdown on
a 33-yard run.
Josh Tantari led the Flyers with 157 yards on 29 carries. Lake had 275 yards rushing and 50 yards
passing. The Flyers’ defense held Allen East, 3-7, to 182 total yards and intercepted two passes.
Hopewell-Loudon 49, Lakota 33
At Kansas, Matt Brickner rushed for three touchdowns to help Hopewell-Loudon beat Lakota. Hopewell is 8-2
overall and finishes 5-2 in the MAL.
Jeremy Robbins ran for three touchdowns for Lakota, 4-6, 1-6.
Mohawk 19, North Baltimore 0
At North Baltimore, Mohawk scored three touchdowns and shutout North Baltimore.
North Baltimore finishes the year 2-8 overall and 0-7 in the MAL. Mohawk is 4-6 and 2-5.
