Perrysburg man sentenced for sex offenses
John McCrory of Perrysburg was sentenced Tuesday to approximately 61â„2 years in prison on several
sex-related charges.
Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Robert Pollex sentenced him to 17 months on one count of gross
sexual imposition. Pollex then sentenced him to a total of five years on 10 counts of pandering
sexually-oriented material involving a minor.
The 17 months and five years are to be served consecutively.
Fostoria man injured after driving into ditch
PEMBERVILLE – A Fostoria man was in the hospital Tuesday as a result of an accident in which he drove his
vehicle into a ditch.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Day was traveling north in the 14000 block of Ohio
199 at about 8 a.m. when his vehicle crossed the center line and headed into the ditch. The vehicle then
traveled back onto the road, crossed the center line and stopped in the northbound lane.
Day was taken to Fostoria Community Hospital with possible injuries.
Free prostate screening at BG hospital
Wood County Hospital is offering free prostate screenings for men Sept. 24 at 8 a.m. and Oct. 22 at 10
a.m. at Wood County Oncology Center, 960 W. Wooster, Suite 111.
The screening will include a PSA blood test and a physical exam. Faheem Ahmad, M.D. and James Fugazzi,
M.D. will be performing the physical exams. Pre-registration is required at (419) 373-4162.
Prostate cancer has surpassed lung cancer as the leading form of cancer in American men. An estimated
317,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year with more than 41,000 dying. But, with
screenings such as those provided by Wood County Hospital, more and more cases are being detected in the
early stages.
Statistics show that 58 percent of all prostate cancer cases are detected while the cancer is still
localized and at its most curable stage.
