The Wood County Health Department will hold a series of community forums on the H1N1 flu starting next
week.
"We want to give the public an opportunity to get the latest information and ask any
questions," said Pat Snyder, public information officer for the health department.
The four forums will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at these locations on these dates:
¥ Sept. 22 – Elmwood Community Building auditorium, 7650 Jerry City Road, Bloomdale.
¥ Sept. 24 – Perrysburg Township Fire Station, 26711 Lime City Road, Perrysburg.
¥ Oct. 1- Bowling Green Simpson Building, 1291 Conneaut Ave., Bowling Green.
¥ Oct. 6 – Northwood Community Room, 6000 Wales Road, Northwood.
The Wood County Health Department is planning a comprehensive, multi-agency strategy and vaccination plan
to prepare for the upcoming flu season and resurgence of the H1N1 flu. A special focus of the forum is
keeping children and young people healthy as they return to school. The forums will provide updates to
local businesses, schools, and residents about what they can do to prevent and reduce incidents of the
virus in Wood County.
Questions from the public are welcome and will be answered after the presentation. Citizens can submit
questions ahead of time by sending them to [email protected]. Resources and fact sheets will be
available at the forums.
The health department is also planning a large flu immunization clinic on Oct. 8 at the Wood County
Fairground’s Junior Fair Building. The staff hopes to vaccinate as many as 1,000 people for the seasonal
flu.
During the clinic, physicians from Wood County Hospital will be available to answer questions, and an
interactive handwashing station will be set up for children.
"We want to vaccinate as many people as we can get through the clinic," Snyder said.
