Bowling Green State University confirmed this morning that three additional employees were laid off last
week.
A spokesperson in the Marketing and Communications office said two employees were laid off in finance and
administration and one person was laid off in the provost’s office.
BGSU was contacted after an anonymous caller told the Sentinel-Tribune today that a "secret round of
layoffs" was under way at the university.
"The lay offs were needed to balance budgets that had previously appeared to be balanced," said
Bonnie Blankinship of Marketing and Communications.
"From time to time the university does have to eliminate positions to balance an area budget or when
a grant that was funding those positions expires. The university does not issue announcements in these
instances," she said.
