NORTH BALTIMORE – The sky was clear and the seas were calm when the residents of Briar Hill Health Campus
sat down to a Captain’s Dinner Aug. 21. This cruise-themed dinner featured a menu with tastes from
around the world.
Included were shrimp cocktail, Mediterranean Caesar salad, duo of beef tenderloin and lobster tail or
orange roughy, fresh cornucopia of heartland vegetables, and royal dessert.
Table decorations included candlelight, provided by LED tea lights in stemmed and glass votive holders;
shells and a printed menu placed at each resident’s seat.
Residents were invited to the dinner via a passport-style invitation that described a dinner featuring
"exquisite cuisine, festive music, an attentive crew, and a world famous captain, Sarah Foster, to
make an unforgettable evening."
Foster is executive director of Briar Hill, or the "USS Briar Hill," as it was referred to
during the event.
Prior to the dinner, residents had their photos taken in front of a colorful photo backdrop that
commemorated the event.
The week leading up to the Captain’s Dinner featured special programming and activities that tied in to
the cruise theme including drinks on the boardwalk for happy hour.
"Our residents really enjoyed the special menu and decorations and our staff had a wonderful time
preparing for the event," said Foster. "We are already looking forward to our next themed
dinner."
