(Updated at 2:05 p.m. 8-6) Bowling Green State University announced today that the summer commencement
ceremony on Saturday will be moved indoors to Anderson Arena due to the threat of heavy rain.
Weather forecasts predict up to an inch of rain overnight on Friday and the potential for more rain
Saturday morning, making the University Hall lawn unsuitable for the ceremony. In addition to the
graduates, Anderson Arena will hold a crowd of approximately 3,900 for the event.
Summer graduation at the university typically draws up to 7,000 spectators. To accommodate family members
and guests, viewing via a live video feed will be available in Olscamp Hall, the Falcon’s Nest and
theater in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union.
Seating in the arena will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. The
ceremony begins at 9 a.m.
The university would like to remind graduates and their guests that Anderson Arena is not
air-conditioned. Elderly spectators or those who are temperature sensitive may want to consider taking
advantage of one of the alternate viewing areas.
In addition to the two overflow viewing areas on campus, the ceremony can be viewed live on the Web at
www.bgsu.edu and in Bowling Green on Time Warner Cable channel six.(Updated at 2:05 p.m. 8-6) Bowling
