Scholarships to be presented
Members of the Portage Center Arbor No. 524, of the Gleaners, will meet at 6 p.m. Saturday at Carter Park
for a picnic and awards.
Gleaner scholarship winners will be honored and an outstanding adult and youth will be presented with an
award recognizing their service and volunteer work.
The Gleaners will furnish meat and buns. Those attending should bring a dish to share plus their own
beverage and table service.
Clean energy summit set
Owens Community College, 30335 Oregon Road, Perrysburg, will host a workshop for land owners, farmers,
policy makers and concerned citizens regarding agriculture and clean energy. The program will be held
Aug. 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college’s Audio Visual Center, room 121.
Among those on hand for the summit will be Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown, The Ohio Corn Growers Assoc., and
American Farmland Trust for a summit on agriculture and clean
energy. Ag professionals and economists will discuss opportunities for Ohio’s farmers in clean energy
legislation.
A light lunch will be served.
