Jacobs family holds reunion

PEMBERVILLE – All branches of the George and Mary (Besse) Jacobs family gathered for the 37th annual
reunion Sunday at Pemberville Legion Pavilion Park. There were 101 people attending the barbecued
chicken dinner, with every family bringing a dish to share.
There was bingo with prizes and the pool was open.
President of the Jacobs reunion is Marilyn (Garn) Wilson. Harley Jacobs and sons Allan and Mark grilled
all the chicken, while Harley’s wife, Donna, made the sauce. Their family has been grilling barbecued
chicken for 57 years.
The reunion started on July 26, 1972 at Luckey Legion Park, at which time there were nine children. Still
living are Harley Jacobs and sisters Lois Alexander, Ruth Riley, Alice Mock and Florence Hummel.
Hummel, 95, was the oldest person present at this year’s reunion. Riley and her entire family came from
