Ruth E. Lemmerbrock, 98, of Bowling Green, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at Wood Haven Health Care.
She was a graduate of Pemberville High School and Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Seven Sister Sorority.
Mrs. Lemmerbrock taught in Bellevue City Schools and continued substitute teaching in Wood County and
Bowling Green City Schools. She was a member of the Wood County Retired Teachers Association and the
Ohio Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Lemmerbrock taught 40 years of Sunday School at Hope Lutheran Church on Cloverdale Road. She was
charter president of the WELCA women’s organization and also charter president of the Wood County Child
Conservation League and member of the Senior CCL. She was a certified instructor of Lay Leadership in
the Michigan District of the A.L.C. Lutheran Church.
She was a volunteer teacher in reading for children in the Juvenile Center, Bowling Green and worked as a
Gray Lady at Wood County Hospital for many years. Ruth currently was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran
Church, the Women of the Church and also the Dorcus Circle.
Mrs. Lemmerbrock was born April 5, 1911, in Pemberville to Carl and Marie (Kemner) Hoodlebrink. She
married John Lemmerbrock on November 17, 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1970. Also preceding was a
son, William Carl Lemmerbrock in 1969.
Surviving are a daughter, Amy Kahlenberg and son, Thomas, both of Bowling Green. There are five
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 8th at 2 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran
Church followed by a reception at the church. Private burial is Monday at Fish Cemetery, Pemberville.
