Sports Mailbag: Reader suggests ice sheet in Stroh Center

To the Editor:
It’s great to hear that the new BGSU athletic complex is coming in under projected budget. Normally I
would greatly applaud this fact. However, this presents a great opportunity to rectify the original
mistake when a sheet of ice for the hockey team was not included in the building design. If the money
has been raised and is now available, why not save BG hockey by moving the program into the big time by
incorporating ice into the new state of the art building on campus. I earlier wrote that the hockey team
should play in the new state of the art facility in downtown Toledo until BG hockey could regroup into a
viable, competitive program. Ice in the new building on campus would greatly enhance the program’s move
back into a viable, competitive program. Many universities have a facility that accommodates both
basketball and hockey. Why not BGSU?
