Tracy to compete in AAA home run derby
Former Bowling Green High School and BGSU standout Andy Tracy is one of six players to compete in the
Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby. The competition is tonight at 10 at PGE Park in Portland, Ore.
In 79 games for the Lehigh Valley of the International League, Tracy is batting .246 with 15 home runs
and 57 RBI.
Tracy was selected as an IL all-atar and will take part in the Class AAA all-star game against the
Pacific Coast League’s All-Stars. The game is scheduled for 10:05 p.m. Wednesday and will be aired live
on ESPN2.
Reimold 1-for-4 for Orioles
BALTIMORE – Former BGSU standout Nolan Reimold went 1-for-4 with a single in Baltimore’s 4-2 win over
Toronto Sunday. Reimold did not play in the Orioles’ 4-3 win over the Blue Jays Saturday.
In 51 games this season, Reimold is batting .257 with nine home runs and 23 RBI.
Marlins’ Badenhop has scoreless outing for Marlins
PHOENIX – Former Perrysburg High School and BGSU standout Nolan Reimold pitched 11â„3 innings, allowing
no runs on two hits with two strikeouts in Florida’s 5-1 loss to Arizona Saturday. He did not factor in
the decision.
Badenhop is 5-3 with a 3.45 earned-run average in 47 innings for the Marlins this season.
Blue Jackets sign Jonathan Sigalet
COLUMBUS – The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed defenseman Jonathan Sigalet to a two-year, two-way
National Hockey League/American Hockey League contract. Terms were not disclosed.
Sigalet, 23, was originally acquired by the Blue Jackets from the Boston Bruins in exchange for the
rights to left wing Matt Marquardt on May 27, 2008. He missed most of the 2008-09 season due to a
shoulder injury, but registered five goals and six assists for 11 points, 16 penalty minutes and a +13
plus/minus rating in 19 games with the Syracuse Crunch, the club’s AHL affiliate.
Boston’s fourth pick, 100th overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft, he appeared in one game with the Bruins
during the 2006-07 season and spent most of his first three professional seasons with the Providence
Bruins, Boston’s AHL affiliate. He has registered 26-66-92 with 170 penalty minutes and a +57 plus/minus
rating in 214 career AHL games. He collected 3-20-23 with 58 penalty minutes and was +20 in 70 games
during the 2007-08 season and added 0-3-3 with 12 penalty minutes and was +6 in 10 Calder Cup Playoffs
games.
Sigalet played two seasons at Bowling Green State University from 2003-05. In 72 career games with the
Falcons, he registered 6-25-31 and 62 penalty minutes, including a career-high 3-13-16 and 36 penalty
minutes in 2004-05. After signing with the Bruins, he made his professional debut with Providence in
2005-06 and led all club defensemen in scoring with 9-27-36 and 59 penalty minutes in 75 games.
Stingers U-12 tryouts set
PERRYSBURG – Tryouts for the U-12 Stingers travel baseball team have been scheduled for Rivercrest Field
No. 1 in Perrysburg.
The team will be comprised of players with birthdays on or after May 1, 1997. The dates are: July 28, 6-
8:30 p.m. and Aug. 8 10-a.m.-noon.
The players will only need to attend one tryout but have the option to attend both if desired. If unable
to be present on either date, please notify head coach Ricky Haislip (419) 931-4185 at night or (567)
336-1580 during the day in advance of the first tryout, so that a suitable makeup time can be
determined.
The Stingers play in the Northwest Ohio Amateur Baseball League and plan to play in the Cooperstown
Dreams Park Tournament in 2010.
Northwood girls soccer sets training meeting
NORTHWOOD – The Northwood High School girls soccer team is holding the first training meeting for the
2009 season at 8:30 a.m. July 20.
All returning and new players should meet at the Northwood High School soccer field and should be
prepared to take the strength test.
Nagel records hole-in-one
Erik Nagel recorded a hole-in-one on No. 3 at Forrest Creason Golf Course Tuesday.
Nagel used a four iron to ace the 184-yard hole.
