The office of Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Alan Mayberry confirmed on Friday the trial for Cory
Mendoza has been rescheduled for Aug. 31 to Sept. 4.
Mendoza, 20, of McClure, is facing eight separate criminal charges including two counts of aggravated
vehicular homicide as a result of a fatal crash which killed William and Sharon DeWitt, both 69, of
Weston, last October. He’s also charged with two counts aggravated vehicular assault, and one count each
of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, endangering children, failure to comply with police,
and failure to stop after an accident.
He could face more than 40 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
Mendoza had been scheduled for a pre-trial conference Friday, but the attorneys did not go on the record
and he did not appear before the judge.
