PERRYSBURG – Samuel H. Blevins, 87, of Perrysburg and formerly of Kentucky, died Tuesday (June 16, 2009)
at Perrysburg Care and Rehab.
Mr. Blevins was skilled as a mechanic and carpenter. He worked for Preen Transfer as a truck driver, and
also for Builders Supply in Kentucky. He then worked in Ohio for Motorways as a truck driver.
Mr. Blevins was a member of Emmanuel Freewill Baptist Church, Luckey.
He enjoyed classic cars.
Born July 25, 1921 in Jenkins, Ky., to Nathan and Victoria (Roland) Blevins, he married Minnie McKenzie
on March 17, 1947 in Jenkins, and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Anna Meiring, Luckey; Linda Hornberger, of Perrysburg; and Myrna
Arthur, Beaufort, S.C.; two sons, John Sr., of Wayne, and Nathan, Lambertville, Mich.; an adopted son,
Gary Ranville, also of Lambertville; a sister, June Bentley, Wise, Va.; four grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Edda Fay Blevins; three brothers, James, Roland and
Byron; four sisters, Mary Francis Blevins, Ella Bentley, Buelah Rullo and Charlotte Hicks; and three
grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Rev. James Hughes will officiate. Burial
will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Perrysburg. A bereavement luncheon will follow at the church.
Visitation is today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Marsh Funeral Home, Luckey. Additional visitation will
begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
