Delegates to attend the American Legion Buckeye Boys State

The Wood County Council of the American Legion is sponsoring two Wood County delegates to attend the
American Legion Buckeye Boys State program at Bowling Green State University Saturday through June 21.

Timothy Johnson is a junior at Otsego High School.
James Kummerer also attends Otsego High School.
Tyler Chamberlain is a delegate representing Albert Bowe American Legion Post 338. He is the son of
Rodney and Debbie Chamberlain, Risingsun, and attends Elmwood High School.
He has played football, basketball and baseball. He is a member of National Honor Society and Spanish
Club.
His achievements include honor roll, perfect attendance, 2007 Division III state runner-up baseball team,
2008 District 2 team football and 2009 District 7 honorable mention basketball.
Post 338 has also selected Samual Johnson, Weston, as a delegate. He is the son of Michael and Michelle
Johnson.
He attends Otsego High School. He belongs to cross country, book and media club, track, FFA, Boy Scouts
and a church youth group in McClure.
 
Tyler Burg will also represent Post 338.
He is the son of Joel and Janet Burg, Bowling Green, and attends Otsego High School.
At school he is in band, choir, musicals and varsity soccer.
He is a member of Green Meadows 4-H Club, Ohio Historical Society, a Civil War reenacting unit, Fort
Meigs Cushings Artillery Unit and Harmony Barbershop Choir.
His achievements include OMEA District 1 Honors Band 2009, OMEA District 1 Solo and Ensemble Contest,
superior ratings; University of Toledo Honors Choir, 4-H Citizenship Washington Focus delegate 2008, 4-H
State Fair participant 2007, Ohio Barbershop Society Harmony Camp 2008, Outstanding Musician Award
2007-08, 4-H camp counselor 2008 and student of the month January 2008.
 
 
 
Matt Caris attends Otsego High School and is the son of Mike and Ginger Caris.
He has participated in football, basketball, and track. He is a member of the National Honor Society and
will be the secretary of the Otsego chapter next year. He is an Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 325,
Student Council representative and helped with the lighting and sound in Otsego’s production of
"The Music Man." He is a member of Key Club and Calvary United Methodist Church in Grand
Rapids.
 
 
 
 
 
Joe Thomas is sponsored by Grand Rapids American Legion Post 232. He is the son of Jeff and Julie Thomas,
Grand Rapids.
He is an honor student at Otsego High School. He plays soccer, basketball, and volleyball. He is a member
of the FFA, serving as student adviser. He is also a member of the National Honor Society.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Josh Main has been selected as a Buckeye Boys State delegate by Weston Post 409.
He is the son of Fred and Rose Main and is a member of St. Louis Church of Custar.
He is a member of Otsego High School’s FFA and the trapshooting club. He is also on the Wood County
Junior Fair Board. He is a member of Eagle Air Flying Club and has 29 hours of flight time.
