Stony Ridge starts storytime
STONY RIDGE – The Stony Ridge Branch Library will hold a storytime each Tuesday at 7 p.m., starting June
9 and running through July 21.
Elmwood moves meeting dates
JERRY CITY – The Elmwood Board of Education meetings for the months of June and July have been changed.
The new dates are June 22 and July 20.
Meetings begin in the auditeria at 7 p.m.
Open house today at Portage River Rehab
PEMBERVILLE – Portage River Rehab will hold an open house today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its office in
Suite 3 at 222 E. Front St., Pemberville.
The entrance is off of the parking lot at river level in the back of the building.
It will hold a grand opening on Monday by appointment only. Call (419) 287-3355 to schedule an
appointment.
Portage River Rehab offers physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy from pediatrics to
geriatrics.
It also offers outpatient therapy and home health care. And it offers aquatics in Bowing Green.
Karate classes start Monday
JERRY CITY – The Elmwood Community Center is offering a summer karate program with an emphasis on
striking, kicking, kata, sparring and self-defense techniques.
Taught by Randy Hann, a fifth degree black belt, the class will meet Monday and Thursday evenings.
The program is offered for two three-week periods: Monday to June 25, and July 6-23. Students in grades
3-8 will meet from 5 to 6 p.m., and high school students will meet from 6 to 7 p.m.

Math Buddy program begins
Children, ages 5 and up, looking for some fun, hands-on play and practice with numbers, fractions,
measurement and more can add themselves to Creativity Counts = Let’s Read Math! This math buddy program
meets every Thursday from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Children’s Place of the Wood County District
Public Library.
Children are asked to register for the program. They are encouraged to participate every week or as often
as their schedules allow.
Exchange to hear about newspapers
Dr. James Foust, chair of the journalism department at Bowling Green State University, will discuss the
changing landscape of newspapers and radio at Tuesday’s (June 9) Exchange Club luncheon at Stone Ridge
Golf Club.
The economic downturn and the growing numbers of people who obtain their news online have led the
newspaper industry to rethink the way they do business.
Foust, who has taught at BGSU since 1994, has an extensive media background, particularly in radio and
television, and has conducted research on electronic media and technology and is the author of
"Online Journalism: Principles and Practices of News for the Web."
