The following events will take place the week of Dec. 8-14 at the Wood County Senior Center, 305 N. Main St., Bowling Green.
MONDAY
9 a.m.  Class: Get Fit by Video
9:30 a.m.  Class: Yoga, Certified Instructor: Danielle Trauth-Jurman. Cost: $17.50 for 7 weeks, pre-registration required
11 a.m.  Class: Water Fitness, Bowling Green Care Center, 850 W. Poe, Bowling Green; Instructor Suzanne Wright. Cost: $10 for 3 weeks, advance registration
11:15 a.m.  Program: Trivia sponsored by Briar Hill Health Campus
Noon Lunch: Teriyaki Chicken or Liver & Onions
1 p.m. Wii Bowling
1-4 p.m.  Contract Bridge and Euchre
1:30 p.m. Parkinson's Support Group.
2:30 p.m. Alzheimer's Support Group.
4 p.m.  Trip: Mystery Restaurant; $2 pre-registration required

Six Ohio World War II vets to be awarded French Legion of Honor PDF Print E-mail

SANDUSKY - Six northern Ohio veterans who helped liberate France during World War II are being awarded that country's Medal of Knight of the Legion of Honor in a 1 p.m. ceremony today in Veterans Hall of the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.
The medals will be presented by Honorary Consul of France Stephen Knerly Jr., assisted by Ohio Department of Veterans Services Director Tim Gorrell.
Being honored are:
• Charles Malachosky, 92, of Cuyahoga Falls, who entered the Armed Forces in 1942 and served as a technician 5th grade in the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 2nd Armored Division. He served overseas from February 1944 until April 1946, and participated in the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Malachosky is a recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with five battle stars, among other awards.
• Richard R. Robb, 95, of the Ohio Veterans Home - Sandusky.

Lights show and Christmas on Broadway to be performed at Portage Valley on Dec. 5 PDF Print E-mail

PEMBERVILLE - Residents of Otterbein Portage Valley Senior Lifestyle Community will present a Christmas theatrical production titled "Christmas on Broadway" on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
On that night there will be something fun for the entire family. Villa homes will be lit at 5 p.m. to kick off the Christmas season.  Horse drawn wagon rides from 5 - 6:30 will be provided by Nissen Farms. Rides are at no charge with the donation of non-perishable food for the local food pantry.  Children will be able to visit with Santa and make a Christmas craft. Photos with Santa will be taken.
At 7 p.m., the residents and staff of Otterbein will present their annual costumed Christmas pageant, which is also open to the public. Following the play, guests will be treated to Christmas cookies by the hearth.
