MILLBURY – Pastor Juli Bertalan, who began serving St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Millbury last
November, was ordained on June 1.
The ordination was held at her home church, Calvin United Church of Christ in Birmingham East Toledo.
Presiding over the ordination was Rev. Daniel Bush, Northwest Ohio Association of United Church of Christ
and Rev. Ed Heilman, Park Congregational United Church of Christ, Toledo. Other pastors participated in
her service, including her father, Rev. Imre Bertalan, executive director of Bethlen Retirement
Communities, Ligonier, Pa.
Bertalan’s service was spoken in English and part in Hungarian.
She graduated from Union Theological Seminary of New York City in 2010 with a concentration in Pastoral
Ministry. She is a native of Toledo, growing up in the ethnic community of Birmingham in what is
commonly called East Toledo. After graduating from the seminary, she studied in Budapest, Hungary in a
language and cultural program in order to improve her Hungarian language skills and to connect with her
relatives.
A reception followed at the Hungarian Club of Toledo.
The pastor and her husband, Dylan Wilson, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Alma Florence Bertalan
Wilson, April 18.
