BG volleyball posts win
Bowling Green State University's volleyball team defeated Akron, 25-19, 25-19, 25-16 Saturday. The Falcons are 8-9 overall and 5-1 in the Mid-American Conference.
BG's leaders were: Danielle Tonyan, 10 kills; Erica Fullenkamp, 29 assists; and Ashley Dunn, from Bowling Green High School, 11 digs.
BGSU men's soccer wins
Anthony Grant scored 1:06 into the second overtime to lift the Bowling Green State University men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Northern Illinois Saturday.
Sean Sikich got the assist and BG goalkeeper Michael Wiest made two saves.
The Falcons are 3-5-4 overall and 2-1 in the Mid-American Conference.
BG finishes 6-4 at ITA
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University tennis team finished 6-4 at the ITA Midwest Regional championships after the doubles team of Nikki Chiricosta and Emily Rueland lost 8-1 in the round of 16.
BG was 5-3 in singles and 1-1 in double play.
BG women's soccer beaten
Toledo scored twice in the second half on the way to a 2-0 Mid-American Conference win over the Bowling Green State University's women's soccer team Sunday.
Lauren Cadel made eight saves for BG 0-11-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the Mid-American Conference.
Owens men's golf wins twice
Blaze Hogan led the No. 1 Owens Community College Express men's golf team to a first-place finish at the eight-team National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Tournament preview tournament over the weekend.
The event was held at Swan Creek Golf Resort in Donaldson, Ind., which will hosts this spring's national tournament.
Hogan had three-round totals of 72-74-70 for a 216 total, while Harrison Long shot a 71-72-74 for a 217. Brandon Hoelzer shot 78-73-71 for a 222, Philippe Weppernig shot a 74-77-78 for a 229, Kirby Manown shot a 75-81-78 for a 234 and Dru Hein shot a 78-79-76 for a 235.
Owens finished with a team score of 881, 11 strokes ahead of Grand Rapids CC.
On Sunday, Owens won the Lourdes University Fall Finale in Aurora at the Barrington Golf Club with a 306 total, 13 strokes in front of Jackson College.
Hogan finished first with an even-par 72. Other Owens scorers were: Weppernig, third, 76; Hein, tied for fourth, 77; Harrison Long, tied for 13th, 81; and Tyler Crossley, tied for 21st, 88.
Express win in women's soccer
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Owens Community College women's soccer team won its ninth straight match, topping Kellogg CC 5-1, Saturday. Owens is 11-2 overall.
Kendyl Christian scored two goals for Owens, and Jill Burkholder had a goal and an assist. Tara Preble, from Lake High School, added an assist.
Erika Brinkman was in goal for Owens and did not record a save.
Monroe CC downs Owens in men's soccer
Monroe Community College beat the Owens CC men's soccer team, 3-1 Saturday.
Vijay Gentles scored for Owens. Joshua Kleinow and Ryan Wicher combined to make three saves for Owens.
Owens is 11-4-1 overall.
Owens volleyball wins twice
The Owens Community College's volleyball team improved to 13-16 overall and 6-3 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference with two wins Saturday.
Owens defeated Edison CC and St. Clair County CC. No scores were reported.
