Narro qualifies for U.S. Amateur
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Bowling Green rising sophomore Jose Narro finished in a tie for first place at the
U.S. Amateur Championship qualifier Monday and Tuesday at the Palmer Golf Course at The Woodlands
Country Club.
Narro had a 36-hole score of 5-under-par 137 to finish in a three-way tie for first.
He had rounds of 70 and 67 to qualify for the U.S. Amateur Aug. 9-17 at the Atlanta Athletic Club in
Johns Creek, Ga.
Shimel fires 71
DUPONT, Wash. – Perrysburg resident Alyssa Shimel shot a 1-under-par 71 Tuesday during the second round
of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship at The Home Course.
Shimel had a two-day total of 150 and did not make the cut for the low 64 for match play.
Links Lassies
Results of a medal play tournament held by the Links Lassies at Forrest Creason Golf Course: Flight A –
Joyce Hackworth, low gross, low net; Flight B – Sue Kerr, low gross, low net; and Flight C – Linda
Meyer, low gross, low net. Meyer used the fewest number of putts.
11U Blast schedule tryout
The Bowling Green Blast will be holding a tryout for their 2015 11U team July 27 from 3-5 p.m. at Meserve
Field.
The tryout is open to all players. The team will play 22 league games and five to six tournaments.
