COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A state Board of Education member appointed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich is resigning
from the 19-member panel.
The Columbus Dispatch reports 70-year-old Darryl Mehaffie resigned Monday and said in an email that he
doesn’t have time to serve on the board.
Mehaffie is a retired teacher from Greenville who also had served on the board of trustees for Edison
State Community College. He was appointed to the state board in January 2013 to finish the remaining two
years of a term that expires in December.
The state board has 11 elected seats and eight appointed seats. One of each type is now vacant.
