State cites NE Ohio city water system over testing

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — State regulators have cited a
northeast Ohio municipal water system over a contractor’s failure to do
required testing.
In response, Youngstown’s city water department will no longer use the testing lab.
According
to The (Youngstown) Vindicator (bit.ly/1b7Xtqu), the contractor failed
to analyze water samples in a timely manner because of an equipment
problem.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency issued a
citation against the city. The citation didn’t include a fine, but the
city must notify water customers in the next monthly bill.
Youngstown Water Commissioner Harry Johnson III says there is no problem with the water.
The city is mandated by the EPA to test water for specific contaminants at various times during the year.
