Cincinnati streetcar work completes first mile

CINCINNATI (AP) — Cincinnati’s streetcar project has completed its first mile.
Work on the nearly four-mile loop hit the milestone this past week.
The project’s leader tells The Cincinnati Enquirer (http://cin.ci/1hKB4lN ) that it’s an achievement
worth celebrating because of the recent political battle over the project.
Cincinnati
Mayor John Cranley vowed not to support more spending on the $133
million project. But a city council vote in December revitalized the
project, which is set to be finished in 2016.
The streetcar line
is designed to connect Cincinnati’s downtown and riverfront stadiums
with the nearby Over-the-Rhine historic district’s trendy bars,
restaurants and a popular farmers market.
