Bowling Green: Jacob A. Grassley, 34, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and formerly of Bowling Green, died
Thursday evening, January 24, 2013 in Kalamazoo.He was born in Bowling Green January 3, 1979, the son of
Michael E. and Dorothy A. Hott Grassley, who survive in Bowling Green. On Aug. 7, 2010 he married Meghan M.
Parsons, who survives, along with one daughter, Whitney Annabelle Grassley at home. They are expecting
another child in April.Also surviving are two sisters, Jennifer (Scott) Rosengarten and Catherine (Scott)
Smith, both of Bowling Green, and a nephew, Adrian Michael Smith; and Jacob’s grandmother, Louisa Hott of
Mexia, Texas, and his father and mother-in-law, Fred J. and Julie A. Parsons of Grand Rapids, OH; and
sis-in-law, Heather A. Shanaber."Jacob was an amazing husband and father. He will forever remain loved
more than he will ever know."Jacob was also known lovingly as "Jake the Snake" and was a hard
worker, having been a coast to coast truck driver with milk transports and owned Supreme Flooring and with
his wife he owned Tidy Blinds of Kalamazoo.He loved farming and the family farm near Spencerville, Ohio,
leather and wood working, wine making, canning and above all his family and his dog, Riley.A jokester, he
was "down and Earthy," loving the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gunmanship, sailing, boating and
motorcycles. He was "stubborn as a mule."He enjoyed four-wheeling in Amish land with his family in
Northeastern Ohio.Private family funeral services will be held in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in
Spencerville, Ohio, Pastor Zeke Coughlin officiating. Burial will follow in the German-Zion Cemetery,
southeast of Spencerville, near the family farm.Memorial contributions may be made to the family in his
