Daniel “Zeke” Zernhel
June 19, 1955 – June 18, 2014
Daniel Ralph “Zeke” Zernhel, 58, of Deshler, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014.
He was born June 19, 1955 in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late Herman Dan and Betty (Sager) Zernhel. On
June 28, 1985 he married Colleen Collins at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Deshler.
Dan graduated from McComb High School in 1973.
He was a lifelong farmer. He worked for Deshler Farmers Elevator for over 37 years and was currently
working for Dennis Panning Excavating, Deshler.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Deshler, and was a Jackson Township Trustee. He
was formerly an advisor for Jackson Livestock 4-H Club and member of Jackson Township-Hoytville Fire
Department.
Dan loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed his time on a farm and his variety of farm
animals, especially his donkey “Buddy.”
He is survived by his wife, Colleen; children, Abby (Joe) Phillips; Brittany (Brian) King; Clint Zernhel
(Kara Bihn); five grandchildren, Saige and Sutten Phillips; Brooklyn, Bethany and Brianna King; two
sisters, Julie (Rick) Bolyard; Lisa (Randy) Petersen,
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,
Deshler with Fr. Art Niewiadomski officiating.
Burial will follow in Wingston Cemetery, Rudolph, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler.
Memorials are suggested to a Jackson Township Fire Department or donor’s choice.
