Man sent to jail for drug offenses

A Tennessee man will serve one year in prison for a drug incident that occurred on Interstate 75 in Wood
County last spring.
Brandon L. Hackett, 28, Chattanooga, Tenn., was sentenced recently in the courtroom of Wood County Judge
Alan Mayberry.
Hackett was arrested in April, 2013, on I-75 near milepost 183 with a reported 704 prescription pills,
worth nearly $17,000.
He pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated possession of drugs, one count of drug possession, and one
county of trafficking in drugs.
On the first count he received a sentence of 12 months, and nine months each on the remaining two counts.
Mayberry ordered that the sentences be served concurrently, for an aggregate of 12 months in prison.
Also recently sentenced to prison in Wood County Court were:
• Dustin Lee Garcia, 24, Bowling Green: nine months in prison and a $2,500 fine for receiving stolen
property.
• Joey Ray Hines, 35, Toledo: 11 months in prison for breaking and entering and theft.A Tennessee man
