This week’s familiar face is Gary Brown, who has been a janitor at Lake schools for the past 34 years. He will retire on Dec. 31. He is currently the janitor in the middle school building. A Toledo resident, Brown and his wife, Deborah, have three children and one grandchild.

Six arrested in prostitution sting
PERRYSBURG - Six people were arrested during a prostitution sting in the city Thursday.
The operation took place at a hotel on Fremont Pike.
The Wood County Sheriff's Office, the Perrysburg Police Division, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation conducted the human trafficking enforcement operation.
Arrested for promoting prostitution, a fourth-degree felony, was Laron Gregory, 33, Toledo.
Arrested for solicitation  prostitution, a third-degree misdemeanor, were: Carl Kelly, 44, Whitehouse; Dennis Mahon, 54, Toledo; Michael Palmer, 37, Ida., Mich.; and James Tyrrell, 33, Bowling Green.
Arrested for attempted solicitation prostitution, a misdemeanor of the fourth degree, was Mounir Boutros, 50, Sylvania.

County to hold public auction of forfeited land PDF Print E-mail

Michael Sibbersen, Wood County auditor, will hold a forfeited land sale Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the hearing room on the fifth floor of the County Office Building in Bowling Green.
The sale will be a public auction and the parcels which are being offered due to non-payment of taxes will be sold to the highest bidder. Each property has been forfeited to the state after failing to sell at sheriff's sale.
A list of parcels is available at the Wood County Auditor's Office or online at www.co.wood.oh.us/auditor/. These parcels are located in six different taxing districts in the County as follows: Henry Township, North Baltimore, Lake Township, Millbury, Custar and Risingsun.
There are 15 parcels listed for sale at this date. However, if prior to sale time, the delinquent tax charges are paid by the owner the parcel will be removed from the list. Included among the properties for sale are the former Methodist Church west of Hammansburg and residential structures on three of the parcels.

Densic to try for seat on Rossford Council PDF Print E-mail

ROSSFORD - Robert Densic will apply to fill the vacant council seat caused by the death of Chuck Duricek on Thanksgiving.
A sharply divided council Monday said it would seek applicants to fill the seat instead of appointing the losing candidate with the highest vote total from the November election. That would be Densic.
Duricek won a third term in that election, garnering the highest vote total in a six-way race for four seats.
Also winning election were Dan Wagner, Caroline Eckel and Jerry Staczek.
City Administrator Ed Ciecka said as of Friday no applications have been submitted to Clerk of Council Robert Watrol.

Parent arrested at Elmwood school PDF Print E-mail

BLOOMDALE – A village woman was arrested Thursday morning following an incident at Elmwood Local Schools.
Angela West, 30, Bloomdale, was taken into custody by the school resource officer for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
The incident reportedly stemmed from an issue involving West’s son, who was not picked up by a school bus.
Superintendent Tony Borton, who is currently in North Dakota with the Elmwood robotics team, said the incident still has to be investigated. He did not witness the incident.
