Wood County Commissioner Doris Herringshaw has filed her petitions for election. Herringshaw was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Tim Brown in 2013 and would like to continue to serve as a county commissioner.
The commissioners have shown good management skills as proven by a consistent record of balancing the budget, Herringshaw said. With conservative fiscal management, she said she has helped maintain those best management practices. "My fiscally conservative views have been an asset in the management of the county budget."
Wood County currently has one of the lowest unemployment rates in Northwest Ohio, which reflects the important emphasis on jobs and economic development by the commissioners, she saids. Herringshaw has been a member of the Good Jobs Initiative partnering with BGSU, Owens College, Penta, economic development and skilled trade unions in encouraging job training and local employment opportunities.
